The Floating collective
A conversation performance on a raft by the artist Jens Evaldsson in collaboration with the experimental architecture collective Svensk Standard. A conversation at sea with megaphones aimed at the audience on the shore. Svensk Standard previously made the project LAWN MOVER, in which they built and experimented with a floating lawn as a way to create new public spaces on water for everyone to share. Several questions were discussed, such as: Do pontoons constitute an enclosure of the commons? How "public" can or should such structures be? What happens when you come from a particular discipline, such as architecture, and frame the project "as architecture", and how does the project change when placed in an art context? How has the "temporary structure" of radical 1960s architecture (the pontoon, the dome, the inflatable) been appropriated by the logic of the "experience economy" and the advertising industry? What are the risks here? What are the consequences of developing waterfront areas in Stockholm, such as "Marinstaden" in Nacka?
